Toyota teases all-new Avalon ahead of New York debut

toyota has just released a picture puzzle week of what he says is a new, designed-in-America sedan that will debut at the upcoming New York Auto Show in 2012. It is not immediately clear whether the vehicle will be a concept or production car, but Toyota has not issued qualifying soon show car, suggesting that something will be in dealerships. Described as having “a sleek and sporty,” teased the back most likely belongs to a new generation full-size Avalon sedan.

Although we can not be sure until the packs were removed in New York, the Avalon is our best guess based on descriptions of the redesigned Toyota Avalon from dealers who were shown last year in June. The comparisons between the dealers and the redesigned Avalon luxury cars like the Jaguar XJ and Audi A7, suggesting he wants to transition from a traditional four-door hatchback coupe form. The picture provided by Toyota puzzle now supports this, showing a sharply angled C-pillar and little-to-no rear deck. And while the cutting lines for the trunk are not visible in this rendering, we would not be surprised if this is a door.
