National Highway Traffic Safety Administration head-honcho David Strickland is great emerging from vehicle to vehicle communication, according to the Detroit Free Press. As a keynote speaker at the Society of Automotive Engineers World Congress in Detroit this week, Strickland praised the technology, saying it could remove up to 80 percent of accidents.
We recently heard General Motors speak with enthusiasm to create a network effect on the roads, using portable devices like smartphones to share information on traffic conditions and what is happening in nearby vehicles to warn drivers and pedestrians and cyclists equal. GM has spoken from vehicle to vehicle communication for a few years, incorporating the idea in its EN-V concepts like that pictured above, “Cars” that promise a future in which # autonomous driving is a reality.
