Chevrolet Trailblazer
The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration opened an investigation into the fire door on 2006-07 Chevrolet Trailblazer models. The investigation affects more than 309 000 of the Chevy SUV, with NHTSA claim that the fires were caused by the door with power window switches problems or some electrical parts.
As of this writing, NHTSA has received 12 complaints from owners about Trailblazer smoke or fire inside the vehicle, and thankfully, no injuries were reported. According to the Detroit News, General Motors said that none of the Trail Blazers in question were destroyed due to fires, although some internal parts have been merged and some places were burned.
If this story sounds familiar, it is because NHTSA recently began to study Toyota Camry and RAV4 models for this reason exactly the same, with about 830 000 vehicles Toyota may be affected. For this reason, NHTSA is looking to see if General Motors and Toyota from the power switches to windows shares from the same supplier. If this is the case, other vehicles may be affected.
It shares its windows Chevrolet Trailblazer power switches with three other GM vehicles – GMC Envoy, Buick Rainier and Saab 9-7X – although NHTSA has not received any complaints from owners of these vehicles, the Detroit News. A GM spokesman said that these vehicles have different port configurations, and Malthus, may not have any problem.
